Becoming doubtful

As James brushed the animal’s fur, a nagging doubt began to form in his mind. Certain features didn’t quite match those of a typical cat. Something felt off, but he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was. Still, he chose to dismiss his unease and focus on the grooming, convincing himself that he was overthinking.
However, as he continued, something suddenly caught his attention—something he couldn’t ignore. His hands froze mid-motion, his heart pounding. The realization slowly dawned on him, sending a chill down his spine. Whatever this creature was, it was definitely not a cat.
