Feeling differently
Sem, on the other hand, couldn’t have felt more differently about the whole situation. He had never been one to pry into other people’s lives, let alone invade their privacy. The idea of spying on someone, especially someone who worked for them, made him deeply uncomfortable. But no matter how many times he tried to reason with Pipa, it was useless. Once she latched onto an idea, there was no talking her out of it.
And when it came to Jackie, Pipa had never been more determined. She was utterly convinced that something wasn’t right, and nothing Sem said could change her mind. It frustrated him beyond belief, but he also knew his wife well enough to realize that resisting her wouldn’t get him anywhere. One way or another, Pipa was going to do exactly what she wanted.
