Taking a risk
At the time, Pipa had chosen to trust Sem’s judgment and take a chance on Jackie. She hadn’t questioned her decision up until now, and for a long while, she hadn’t felt a single ounce of regret about it. She had hoped that their choice would prove to be the right one, and everything would work out smoothly, just as Sem believed it would.
But as she waited in the closet, everything was about to change. Pipa’s mind was filled with uncertainty when, suddenly, she heard the key turning in the lock of the front door. Her heart raced, and in that moment, she knew things were about to take a turn—she just didn’t know how much.
