Monica Coleman and Kate Pierson

If you don’t recognize Kate Pierson, it may be because you’re too young. Pierson is a co-founder of the B-52s, a band that was hugely popular during the ’80s. She and her partner, Monica Coleman, met in 2002 at an event in Woodstock, New York. Over the years, they became both life partners and business partners, running a lodging business called Kate’s Lazy Meadow.
In 2015, after years of dating, they married in a ceremony attended by Pierson’s bandmates and singer Sia Furler. Pierson also launched her solo album, Guitars and Microphones, with songs written by Sia.
