Reluctant
Sem felt a strong reluctance as he listened to Pipa’s pleas. He believed she might be caught up in some sort of delusion, and he didn’t want to encourage it further. The whole situation made him uncomfortable, but he knew Pipa was desperate for his support.
After a brief pause, Sem finally agreed to help her one last time. If Pipa was wrong again, he told her, he would insist she get professional help. Pipa, still firm in her conviction, promised she would do whatever it took to prove her side of the story.
