A changed woman

Sem stood in the doorway, his breath catching in his throat when he saw his wife. Pipa was huddled on the bed, her posture almost unnatural, as though the weight of her obsession had physically consumed her. The iPad was placed between her legs, the only thing holding her attention. Her face was void of expression, her head lowered, eyes locked onto the screen as if it were the only thing tethering her to reality.
The silence in the room was thick, broken only by the faint glow of the iPad. Sem’s presence seemed to have no impact on her; she didn’t even look up or acknowledge him. It was a disturbing sight that made him realize just how deep Pipa had fallen into this strange and unhealthy fixation. This was not the woman he knew, and the realization left him feeling helpless.
