Trusting without proof
Pipa decided it was time to step out of hiding and give Jackie the benefit of the doubt. She walked around the corner and casually greeted her, trying to act natural despite the tension she felt. It was the first time Pipa had been home during Jackie’s usual cleaning hours, and she could tell Jackie was a little startled by the unexpected encounter. However, Jackie quickly masked her surprise with a smile.
Pipa informed Jackie that she was about to leave again, and as she did, she noticed Jackie’s expression shift. The relief was almost palpable, and it seemed as though Jackie was happy to see Pipa go. Pipa couldn’t help but feel that something was off, but she decided to leave it for now and see how things unfolded.
